Credentials:
-O. Fred Donaldson
My path to counseling started with a heartfelt curiosity in child psychology, especially how children, even in the midst of adversity, can show remarkable resilience. That curiosity led me to work in educational and community-based settings, where I provided trauma-informed care for children and adolescents, which in turn developed a passion. Through my collaborations with college counseling centers, I also discovered a love for supporting young adults as they navigate identity, relationships, and life's transitions. These experiences continue to shape my approach, reminding me of the power of feeling seen, understood, and supported through life's difficult moments.
Those experiences shaped the therapist I am today and the work I feel most passionate about. Using attachment-based therapy and Child-Centered Play Therapy, I strive to help families reconnect when relationships feel strained and disconnected. To help parents who love their child deeply but feel stuck in constant power struggles, meltdowns, or conflict. Working with teens who feel lost, overwhelmed, or unsure of who they are. I help families understand the deeper story behind behaviors, repair connection, and build relationships rooted in trust, security, and belonging.
I have earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lipscomb University, with a specialized focus in Play Therapy. I hold two bachelor’s degrees, Music and Psychology from Florida State University. I continue to build my expertise and am an A-LPC/MHSP (#7781) under the supervision of experienced professionals, including Summer Curwen, TN LMFT (License #1196).
When I’m not counseling, you can find me crafting, coaching girls' volleyball, or traveling to a new place to visit with my husband. I’m also a bookworm who loves cozy nights in with my chunky cat, Elliot.
