I began on the path of education with the goal to one day become a high school English teacher. I soon realized the type of work I was so excited to do with students wasn’t teaching English at all, but helping them through this journey of life that is often cold and lonely. Offering the healing power of compassion and connection would more fully be embodied through the path of therapy. Thus came a swift change in my major, and here we are! I now see an array of clients including couples, adults, and teens.
I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Middle Tennessee State University and hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University. I am a member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and I am currently pursuing full licensure for Marriage and Family Therapy under the clinical supervision of Sara Hopkins, PhD, LMFT #928. I am a Certified SYMBIS counselor.
I view therapy through a systemic, attachment-based lens. I believe each of us is impacted by and actively impacting the many spheres in which we live, starting with our smallest sphere: home. With this view, I create safety with clients. This is the first step in healing hurts created from disconnection. My counseling is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Polyvagal Theory.
As a middle Tennessee native, you can often catch me in the fresh air around our many bodies of water when not with clients. I am a lover of nature -from trees, flowers, mushrooms and lichens to our furry/feathered friends and insects. On rainy days, you can find me drinking iced coffee while painting, knitting/crocheting, or watching movies and playing games with my husband.
